The annual telethon for the Parent-Child Center, a United Way agency that offers a variety of services for parents and children, surpassed its $100,000 goal during the fundraiser Saturday at Valley Mall.
The 17th annual telethon raised $107,000, Executive Director Millie Lowman said.
Established in 1983 by the Exchange Clubs of Washington County, the private, nonprofit center provides prevention programs, advocacy services and parenting workshops.
"I think it was better than what we thought," Lowman said. "We were thrilled."
The three-hour telethon was broadcast on NBC25.
