Art Alliance awards artists

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Franklin County Art Alliance presented more than $1,000 in awards at the opening reception of its 35th annual exhibition, held Sunday, June 4 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Pa. More than 220 works by 63 artists were judged by art educators Ben Culbertson and Walter Nichols.

The Best of Show award was given to Marti Yeager of Chambersburg for her oil painting "Pink Lilies."

Local artists invited to enter

The Washington County Arts Council announces its first Washington County Free-for-All, an exhibition open to members of the Washington County Arts Council and to all artists who reside or work in Washington County.

Each artist may submit up to two pieces for the exhibition. There is no fee. Submissions are accepted at the gallery on Sept. 2 and 5. The exhibition will be open from Sept. 9 to Sunday, Oct. 8. For information, e-mail info@washington


Talent show seeks musicians

Save the Babeez Promotions, Inc. is looking for talent for the 2006 Gospel Talent Show on Saturday, July 22, at The Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown.

To enter, send a CD, DVD or VHS tape with a $25 processing fee to Save the Babeez Promotions. Prizes will be awarded to winning acts: ages 5 to 8, $100; ages 9 to 12, $125; ages 13 to 17, $150 and ages 18 and older, $200.
