Sarah Signore, Jr.

Greencastle, Pitcher

The Herald-Mail's Player of the Year for the second straight season, Signore led the Blue Devils to a share of the Mid-Penn Capital title and the final four of the District 3-AAA playoffs. She went 17-5 with a 0.88 ERA, allowing 77 hits and 24 walks while striking out 234 in 144 innings. At the plate, she hit .375, scored 34 runs and drove in 15.

Megan Holmes, Jr.

Musselman, pitcher

Led the Applemen to the West Virginia Class AAA state tournament, finishing 11-2 with a 0.78 ERA. She allowed 48 hits and 14 walks and struck out 96 in 89 2/3 innings. At the plate, she hit .450 with 14 doubles, three triples, four homers and 41 RBI.

Taryn Ashway, Fr.

Waynesboro, pitcher

Phenomenal freshman got her prep career started with a win over Signore and Greencastle and kept on rolling, compiling a 14-6 record and 1.37 ERA in 132 innings. She allowed 78 hits and 31 walks and struck out 205. At the plate, she hit .442 with 5 triples and 14 RBI.


Allee Rife, Jr.

Chambersburg, pitcher

Led the Trojans to a PIAA Class AAAA state tournament berth, going 11-5. Entering district tournament play, she had a 1.13 ERA and had allowed 58 hits and 26 walks while striking out 105 in 93 innings. At the plate, she hit .373 with 19 RBI.

Emily Swartz, Sr.

Chambersburg, catcher

The Trojans' best hitter, she had a .420 average entering district play, scoring 26 runs, driving in 18 and stealing 10 bases.

Courtni Williams, Sr.

Musselman, infielder

A lightning rod at the top of the Applemen order, she batted .398 with 16 doubles, drove in 23 runs and scored 48 with the help of 24 steals.

Rochelle Christman, Fr.

Greencastle, freshman

Like Ashway, she exploded onto the area prep scene with a stellar freshman campaign, batting .410 with six doubles and five homers. She drove in 27 runs, scored 21 and stole 15 bases.

Paige Tanner, Sr.

Waynesboro, infielder

A solid stick with plenty of speed at the top of the Indians' lineup, she batted .391 with five doubles, six triples and three homers, driving in 16 runs, scoring 25 and stealing 17 bases.

Amanda Waltman, So.

Berkeley Springs, infielder

A West Virginia Class AA first-team selection, Waltman batted .446 with 14 doubles and three homers, driving in 32 runs and scoring 30.

Kristy Young, Sr.

Waynesboro, outfielder

Batted .426 with three doubles and four triples, driving in 19 runs and scoring 15 at the heart of the Indians' lineup.

Emily Cunningham, Sr.

Hedgesville, outfielder

Helped the Eagles win the West Virginia Region II, Section 2 title, batting .344 with five doubles, scoring 37 runs and driving in 17.

Tiffany Barnisky, Sr.

Musselman, outfielder

Batted .301 with six doubles, three homers and 19 RBI while scoring 22 runs for the Applemen.

Lexi Rodgers, Jr.

Martinsburg, DH

The area's best hitter, she mauled pitchers to the tune of a .521 average, blasting 18 doubles and eight homers, driving in 48 runs and scoring 34. She was nearly as impressive in the circle, going 15-8 with a 1.22 ERA, allowing 80 hits and 33 walks while striking out 213 in 162 1/3 innings.

Kris Root, Sr.

Greencastle, utility

Batted .365 with five doubles and six home runs, driving in 24 runs, scoring 25 and stealing 13 bases.

Coach of the Year

Harvey Staver, Chambersburg

Led a Trojans team with seven juniors in the starting lineup - many without varsity experience entering this season - to their 19th straight Mid-Penn Commonwealth title and a berth in the PIAA Class AAAA state tournament.
