Morgan Co. man, 58, dies in U.S. 522

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - A Berkeley Springs man was killed early Thursday in a two-vehicle accident in Morgan County, W.Va., after his car crossed the center line and struck an oncoming tractor-trailer, police said.

Kenneth Raymond Stevens, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries he sustained when the 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck he was driving south on U.S. 522 crossed into the northbound lane and struck the driver's side of a tractor-trailer owned by Steven's Transport Inc. of Dallas, according to West Virginia State Police.

According to police, it is not known why the truck driven by Stevens crossed the center line.

Morgan County Emergency Medical Services and units from the county's sheriff's department assisted with the accident, which occurred about 6:50 a.m., police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Brian A. Stafford, 25, of Augusta, Mich., was not injured in the accident, according to police.
