Everly to play for Barton

Martinsburg's Justin Everly, a three-year varsity player for the Bulldogs, has signed an athletic grant-in-aid to attend and play for Barton College.

Everly will likely play as a back or midfielder for Barton. Martinsburg compiled a 51-12-7 record in Everly's three seasons, reaching the state semifinals in 2004 and 2005.

Canfield shines in Pitch, Hit & Run at Camden Yards

Tanner Canfield, 8, of Williamsport, placed second at the Pepsi Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Team Championship, held at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Saturday.

Canfield qualified for the event by winning his age group at the local level and the all-around title at the Rockville, Md., sectional on May 21.

Soccer referee course

The Western Maryland Soccer Officials Association will sponsor an entry-level soccer referee course at Frederick High School this summer. YMCA Sports Camps

The Chambersburg YMCA will be hosting three sports camps.

The basketball camp for ages 8-11 will held June 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The all-sports camp for ages 8-11 will be held July 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The volleyball camp for ages 9-13 will be held July 24-28 from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
