United Petroleum

United Petroleum opened May 23 at 890 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown.

The facility includes a station that sells both gasoline and diesel fuel, a repair shop and a car dealership.

The station is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Edward Jones

The six local Edward Jones investment representatives are hosting a free broadcast, entitled "Making Sense of international Investing," on Tuesday, June 6, at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Financial experts will help make sense of investing internationally and give their mid-year economic update. The interactive event is presented at select Edward Jones branch offices nationwide via the firm's video network.

Shepherd University

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd University Dining Services has received the 2006 Loyal E. Horton Bronze Award from the National Association of College and University Food Services in the residence hall theme dinner category.

This is the second consecutive year Dining Services has won an award in that category. Shepherd competed in the small school category against other schools with enrollment of less than 7,000 and managed sales volume of less than $7 million.

Shepherd received the award for A Victorian Christmas theme meal served in the dining hall on Dec. 1, 2005.

Shepherd University will receive the Bronze Award plaque at the NACUFS conference in Toronto in July.

C. Basil Grossnickle Insurance

MYERSVILLE, Md. - C. Basil Grossnickle Inc., which received the distinction of Inner Circle with the State Auto Insurance Co., received $1,000 from State Auto to donate to a local charity.

Danny Harne, president of C. Basil Grossnickle Inc., presented the check to the Myersville Volunteer Fire Co.

Agencies earn the right to belong to the Inner Circle by their sales success, professionalism and commitment to their customers, State Auto President Bob Restrepo said in a prepared release.

Good Looks

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Good Looks Barber Shop and Beauty Salon was to hold a grand opening Saturday.

The shop is at 310 Wilson St. in Martinsburg.
