Man killed in W.Va. 9 crash

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - An early morning accident on Friday in Berkeley County claimed the life of one man after the truck he was driving veered off the road and crashed.

Charles W. Huffman Jr. was killed after he lost control of the eastbound 1990 Ford Ranger pickup truck he was driving near the 8000 block of W.Va. 9 not far from Camp Frame Road around 1 a.m., according to a West Virginia State Police press release.

The pickup truck struck two trees in the front yard of a residence on the west side of the road, according to the release.

A state police official declined to release any further information on the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Berkeley County Medical Examiner David Brining.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to police, who were assisted at the scene by the Berkeley County Ambulance Authority, Hedgesville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and the county Sheriff's Department.

The accident remains under investigation, according to the release.
