Skin testing today and Friday

May 31, 2006

The Washington County Health Department will conduct free skin testing today and Friday for people who might have been exposed to tuberculosis at South Hagerstown High School. An informational meeting also is offered for anyone who wants to learn about the disease.

About 200 students and a handful of staff members have been notified they might be at risk and should seek testing for the disease. Others who had only casual contact with the infected individual have been notified they are not considered to be at risk and skin testing is not recommended for them.

A public meeting for anyone interested in learning about TB is at 6:30 tonight at the high school.
