Professional ballplayers make more money, but Little League players and fans are just as passionate, if not more so, about this classic pastime.

More than 2,500 boys and girls ages 5 to 16 play Little League baseball about twice a week in Washington County, says Jay Stouffer, administrator for the district containing Washington, Allegany and Garrett counties.

The season started as early as April 8 and will wrap up with the All-Stars games in late June and early July, Stouffer says.
