Events scheduled for Mountaintop Heritage Days

The following is the schedule for Mountaintop Heritage Days, scheduled for July 1-3 in Cascade and Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.

Saturday, July 1

· 9 a.m. - Parade beginning at Dutrow Avenue and proceeding to Monterey Lane and Wyndham Avenue.

· 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Civil War encampment at Lions Club Park, motorcycle display at Blue Ridge Summit Volunteer Fire Department, food and crafts vendors.

· 11 a.m. - Local historian John Miller to discuss troop movements and battles before and after Gettysburg at the Blue Ridge Summit Free Library.

· 1 p.m. - Benefit auction at Tracey's Corner.

· 2 to 4 p.m. - Music at Tracey's Corner.

· 7 to 11 p.m. - Dance at fire hall.

· 8:45 p.m. - Fireworks display on the grounds of Fort Ritchie, sponsored by PenMar Development Corp. and Corporate Office Properties Trust.

Sunday, July 2

· 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Civil War encampment at Lions Club Park.

· 10 a.m. - Dog obedience demonstration at Tracey's Corner.

· 11 a.m. - Local historian John Miller to discuss troop movements and battles before and after Gettysburg at the Blue Ridge Summit Free Library.

· 1 to 4 p.m. - Music at Tracey's Corner.

· 1 to 4 p.m. - Church tours.

· 1 to 3 p.m. - Challengers baseball game at PenMar Youth League.

Monday, July 3

· 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Civil War encampment at Lions Club Park.

· 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Battle of Monterey Walk, beginning at Hawley Memorial Chapel on Charmian Lane and concluding at Lions Club Park. The walk will be filmed by Pennsylvania Public Television.

· 1:30 p.m. - Kent Masterson Brown, author of "Retreat from Gettysburg" will discuss important battles of the Civil War and have a book signing at Lions Park.
