Donald R. Morrison Sr., 74

Donald Richard Morrison Sr., 74, of 805 Corbett St. in Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, May 26, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 2, 1932, in Funkstown, Md., he was the son of the late Fred Norman and Edna Ruth Johnston Morrison.

He was employed by Pittsburgh Paint and Glass in Hagerstown, and was retired from Garden State Tanning in Williamsport.

He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 of Funkstown.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Elizabeth Morrison; two sons, Donald R. Morrison Jr. and wife, Lena, of Richmond, Va., and Fred W. Morrison of Maugansville, Md.; one sister, Mary E. Hart and husband, Tom, of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren, Angela M. Morrison and Sebastian W. Morrison.


He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert P. Morrison, Walter E. Morrison, Charles S. Morrison and Leon E. Morrison; and one great-grandson, Logan G. Sowers.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth S. Valentine will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Charles E. Reid, 87

JAN. 3, 1919-MAY 25, 2006

WILLIAMSPORT - Charles Eli Reid, 87, of 17217 Sterling Road, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at his home.

Born Jan. 3, 1919, in St. James, he was the son of the late Ivan C. and Alice Beachley Reid.

He retired in 1979 from St. Lawrence Cement Co. after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Halfway.

He was a member of Conococheague Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 of Williamsport.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Irene Shipley Reid, whom he married Jan. 9, 1947; one daughter, Martha Jane Reid of Williamsport; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Irma Thomas and Mae Bennett; and three brothers, Paul Reid, Jacob Reid and Donald Reid.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. Richard A. Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open Monday after 1 p.m.

Mary O. Shestack

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Mary Oberst Shestack of Rockville, and formerly of Philadelphia and Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 25, 2006.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Shestack.

She had been employed by the Maryland Correctional Institution as a secretary before her retirement.

She was a member of the Washington County Council.

She is survived by one daughter, Debby Cohen; and one granddaughter, Robyn Cohen.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Horwitz; and two brothers, Jules Oberst and Sidney Oberst.

Services will be Sunday at 11 a.m. in Mount Sharon Cemetery Chapel, Springfield, Pa.

Shiva will be observed at the home of Debby and Irwin Cohen through Thursday, June 1, at noon.

Ruth K. Wigren, 92

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Ruth King Gray Wigren, 92, of Berkeley Springs, and formerly of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Blue Point, N.Y., died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at her home.

Born Jan. 10, 1914, in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Laura See King.

Her first husband, Norman Harry Gray, and her second husband, Alvin Carlton Wigren, preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Ossining (N.Y.) High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Uvilla United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown.

She was a volunteer with various hospital thrift shops.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda G. Neumann of Lancaster, Pa., Nancy G. Labra of Iquique, Chile, and Marjorie G. Murray of Marengo, Ill.; one son, Robert N. Gray of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Alice K. LaTarte of Ossining; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Julia Tierney; and one brother, Donald King.

Memorial services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Steve Dawson will officiate. Private burial will be in Blue Point.
