Memorial Day parades

The following Memorial Day parades will take place this weekend:

- Sharpsburg Memorial Day parade, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The parade starts at Sharpsburg Elementary School and proceeds east along Main Street through Sharpsburg to Antietam National Battlefield.

- Boonsboro Memorial Day parade, Sunday at 2 p.m. The parade starts by the Boonsboro school complex and ends at Reeder's Alley on South Main Street in Boonsboro.

- Waynesboro (Pa.) Memorial Day Parade, Monday at 9 a.m. The parade starts on Main Street at Cumberland Valley Avenue and goes down Main Street, proceeding right on Broad Street and ending at Memorial Park in Waynesboro.

Fort Frederick's 250th

Fort Frederick's 250th anniversary celebration will include living history demonstrations from the French and Indian, Revolutionary and Civil wars. Today, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, starts at 9 a.m. and ends with fireworks at 9 p.m.; Sunday, starts at 9 a.m. and ends with a Revolutionary War living history demonstration. Boonsboro carnival

The Great Boonsboro Rescue Co. Carnival features live entertainment every night, carnival food and almost two dozen rides. There will be a fireworks display Friday, June 2, about 10 p.m. Today through Saturday, June 3. Most nights, 5 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 3 p.m. to midnight. Halfway Park Days

Arts and crafts merchants, performers and food vendors will take part in the 27th annual Halfway Park Days. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park, Halfway Boulevard, Hagerstown.

Wine and arts festival

West Virginia Wine and Arts Festival 2006 will feature bands and solo acts, arts and crafts vendors, and wine and microbrew beers. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 1 to 6 p.m. Lawns of the Boydville Inn, 601 S. Queen St., Martinsburg, W.Va. $15 for one day; $25 for two days for adults 21 and older; $10 for those 13 to 20 for one or two days; free for those 12 and younger. Memorial Day concert

The St. Patrick's Chorale Memorial Day concert's program, "An Album of Courage: 1861-2006," is written as a fictional genealogy of a northern and southern family. Saturday, 7 p.m. The Maryland Theatre, 21 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Free. Go to www.stpatrickschorale.org.




Animals From A to Z

The youth festival provides a variety of workshops and activities geared for youngsters. The Waynesboro Children's Theatre Troupe will perform "Music of the '60s" on Sunday at 2 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the event will be at Waynesboro Area Middle School. Patriotic concert

The Cumberland Valley School of Music Community Symphonic Band will present its Memorial Day concert. The program will include patriotic, classical, choral, jazz and traditional concert band music and a special salute to the Armed Forces. State Sen.
