BALTIMORE - She's once, twice, three times a champion.

Williamsport High School senior Lacie Johnson won her third straight Class 1A girls pole vault title Thursday, clearing 10 feet on the first day of the Maryland Track and Field Championships at Morgan State University.

Johnson improved her state-title performance each year, clearing 9 feet in 2004 and 9 feet, 6 inches in 2005.

Also winning titles Thursday were:

· Pete Frey, Boonsboro High School. The senior cleared 13 feet, 6 inches to beat Matt Baum of Brunswick High School for the Class 1A boys pole vault title.

· Trey Jones, South Hagerstown High School. The junior won the Class 2A boys shot put with a distance of 50 feet, 5 3/4 inches, beating Josh Cole of Francis Scott Key.

· Tyler King, Smithsburg High School. The senior jumped 21 feet, 6 inches to beat Adis Mandzukic of Pikesville for the Class 1A boys long jump title.

Competition in Class 1A and Class 2A concludes Saturday.
