Robert A. Riggleman III, 50

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert Anderson Riggleman III, 50, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006.

Born July 17, 1955, in Warren County, Va., he was the son of the late Robert Anderson Riggleman Jr. and Nina Juanita Weaver Grimenstein.

He is survived by seven sisters, Bobby J. Riggleman of Cumberland, Md., Debra L. Heflin of Bunker Hill, W.Va., Nancy A. Cook and Lois J. Feltner, both of Hedgesville, W.Va., Penny E. Messick of Warrenton, Va., Grace K. Thompson of Aroda, Va., and Hazel M. Dove of Fisher, W.Va.; two brothers, Harold J. Riggleman and Floyd R. Riggleman, both of Hedgesville; stepmother, Barbara Riggleman; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard D. Riggleman.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.


Mildred B. Walker, 79

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Mildred Blanche Walker, 79, of 15 E. H St., died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born April 15, 1927, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late James W. Rooney Sr. and Millie M. Nalley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Earl Walker, in 1995.

She was a special file analyst at the National Geographic Society for 20 years.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 96 Auxiliary of Brunswick, Moose Lodge 1582 Auxiliary of Brunswick, Eagles Auxiliary 1136 of Brunswick, VFW Auxiliary of Brunswick and AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Shankle of Brunswick; two brothers, James W. Rooney Jr. and Raymond Rooney, both of Brunswick; grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick. The Rev. Frank E. Fortkamp will officiate. Burial will be in Locust Valley Cemetery in Middletown, Md.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home in Brunswick, which will open at 9 a.m.

Blanche M. Mellott, 90

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Blanche M. Mellott, 90, of 1947 Mountain Road, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Menno Haven Nursing Center in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Dec. 25, 1915, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Mabel Walker Bryan.

She managed the former Lauver's Orchards in Fort Loudon, Pa.

She was a member of Charlestown United Methodist Church in Cove Gap, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, John S. Mellott; one daughter, Ninette O. Legates of Westminster, Md.; one son, Richard R. Barnhart of Mercersburg; three stepdaughters, Evangeline Witmer and Mildred Mellott, both of Greencastle, Pa., and LaVerne Hill of Chambersburg; two granddaughters; stepgrandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg. The Revs. Norman C. Hege and Terry J. Brosius will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James H. Griffith Sr., 88

KABLETOWN, W.Va. - James Howard Griffith Sr., 88, of Kabletown, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006.

Born Jan. 21, 1918, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late Mary J. Bartley and Charles H. Griffith.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Clark Griffith, and his second wife, Doris Jane Arthur Stumbaugh Griffith.

He retired in 1983 from Charles Town Races, where he worked in the maintenance department.

He was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, and a member of the building committee and the Men's Bible Class.

He was a member of Sandy Hollow Hunt Club, Senior Citizens Ten Pin Bowling League and Mountain View Diner Senior Bowling League.

He is survived by one son, James Griffith Jr. of Charles Town, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Forney of Williamsport; three sisters, Delores Byers and Genevieve Kusnierz, both of Pennsylvania, and Lily M. Travell of Charles Town; one brother, Hershel Griffith of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Asher, Harriet Drish and Marie Griffith; and one brother, Albert Griffith.

A memorial service will be Sunday, June 4, at 4 p.m. at Charles Town Baptist Church. Dr. Wyman Hall, the Rev. Bland Campbell and the Rev. Mike Withem will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

The family requests the omission of flowers.
