Historical Society

The Maugansville Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 25, at the Maugans Avenue Branch of the First National Bank of Greencastle at 2 p.m. Interested local residents are invited to attend. Work schedules for the "Friends of Fort Frederick" event will be discussed.

House, garden tour

The Hagerstown Women's Club invites you to a fabulous House and Garden Tour on Saturday, June 10th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some beautiful homes including Doub's Mill, the Women's Club, Old Forge Farm and Oxbow Bend Farm will be featured for the price of $20, or $5 for a single home.

Luncheon will be available at the Women's Club from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $7.

The Women's Club has fundraisers to support the upkeep of its historic building, which includes 18 rooms rented to women in our community who need low cost housing.

AARP picnic

AARP Chapter #623 is holding its annual picnic Tuesday, June 13, at the Moose Lodge Family Center on the Old National Pike (Alternate U.S. 40) just south of Funkstown at noon. This is the same location the regular meetings are held.

Tickets are $10 each. The deadline to obtain tickets is June 7. Tickets will be available at the regular meeting or by contacting Carrie Powell at 301-824-6120.

Each person is asked to bring a "bingo prize" (approximate $1 value) for the afternoon entertainment.

'Kevin's Fund' golf tournament

The third Annual "Kevin's Fund" Golf Tournament, hosted by the Maugansville Ruritan Club, will be Friday, July 7, at Black Rock Golf Course starting at 8:30 a.m.

The club is looking for golfers, hole sponsors and donations for prizes. Call Marty at 301-790-1417 for details, registration forms and questions regarding the tournament.

All proceeds benefit the Kevin Lumm Memorial Fund, administered by the Ruritan Club, which assists children with medical and special needs in Washington County, and the Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA).
