Shorebirds top Suns

May 24, 2006

SALISBURY, Md. - Taking walks brings out the wild side.

Delmarva used three ill-timed free passes - two to open innings by Hagerstown starter Bobby Parnell - to start three rallies for a 4-2 victory over the Suns.

Lorenzo Scott drew leadoff walks in the first and third innings to set the table for designated hitter C.J. Smith to drive in three runs with two singles for a 3-0 lead.

The Shorebirds picked up a fourth run in the fifth when Smith drew a two-out walk, allowing Arturo Rivas the chance to hit an RBI double for the 4-0 lead.

The Suns got their two runs off Delmarva starter Reid Hamblet (1-2) on a two-out double by Hector Pellot and Jonathan Sanchez's second home run of the season.

Hagerstown wasted a prime scoring chance in the seventh, coming up empty after loading the bases with one out.
