Hospital receives grant for education

The March of Dimes Maryland Chapter has awarded a grant to Washington County Hospital to support "Rewards for Responsibility," a program targeting maternal and child healthcare needs of teens in Washington County. Washington County had the third highest birthrate of all counties in the state of Maryland for females ages 15 to 19 for 2004, according to the Maryland Vital Statistics Administration.

The grant amount provides $3,325 for the program which will encourage pregnant teens to participate in prenatal education and medical appointments by offering incentives from a local retailer. The grant was made possible through funds provided by the Pangborn Foundation to the March of Dimes Maryland Chapter.
