Herald-Mail participates in regional job board

May 21, 2006

The Herald-Mail is among three area newspapers participating in JobFetch.com, a comprehensive regional job board that is to be launched today.

In addition to The Herald-Mail, participating newspapers include The Frederick News-Post and The Free Lance-Star of Fredericksburg, Va.

The job board will showcase opportunities from employers in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas.

With thousands of postings updated daily, as well as the most advanced technology available, JobFetch.com is intended to streamline the recruitment process and get people hired quicker, according to a prepared release.

Scott Stavrakas, advertising director of The Herald-Mail, said the paper "is very excited about what Jobfetch.com is going to bring our customers, both readers and advertisers."

"For our readers, it increases the number of employment listings they have access to in an easy-to-use format," Stavrakas said. "For our advertisers, it greatly increases the pool of potential candidates for every one of their positions. This will allow them to reach more qualified candidates in their efforts to hire the best people for their business."

"Recruitment advertising is constantly changing and evolving, and I commend these newspapers for recognizing the need to adapt," said Joseph G. Shaker, general manager of JobFetch.com. "Each of these papers dominates its local area, and by joining in this initiative, they are providing an unmatched local coverage."
