BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - A second $500,000 Small Cities Block Grant application for funding Morgan County's proposed senior center and low-income senior housing project was authorized Friday by the Morgan County Commission.
Judd Roth, a Pennsylvania developer who is working as a partner with the Eastern West Virginia Community Action Agency, plans to construct a 50-unit apartment building and a community senior center, he said.
The grant will be used to purchase the CSX lot next to the old train depot on Williams Street, and make site improvements.
The county had applied for a $500,000 grant last year through the West Virginia Development Office, but it was denied, said Bill Clark, Morgan County administrator and executive director of the Economic Development Authority.
