Boy hurt after being struck by vehicle



A boy was injured Friday afternoon when he stepped out from behind a parked vehicle and was struck by another vehicle in the 600 block of West Washington Street, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.

The boy, whose name, age and address were unavailable, was taken to Washington County Hospital after the 4:01 p.m. accident, police said. The boy's injuries did not appear to be serious, police said.

The driver of the vehicle was not at fault, police said.




City police plan sobriety checkpoint



The Hagerstown Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint May 26, according to a press release from Sgt. Johnny Murray.

The location of the checkpoint was not disclosed, but it will be conducted between Friday, May 26, at 10 p.m. and Saturday, May 27, at 3 a.m., Murray said.

The checkpoint will be held in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and program Checkpoint Strikeforce, according to the release.
