Hagerstown Community College offers classes to expand creativit

Hagerstown Community College will offer the following classes:

  • Basketmaking - 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 3. Weave a patriotic basket using red, white and blue reed. The cost is $40.

  • Calligraphy - 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays June 1 to June 22. Learn the fundamentals of writing in the elegant italic hand.

  • Knitting - 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays June 5 and 12. The class is designed to introduce you to the heritage craft and build your confidence while you create a novelty scarf or shawl. The cost is $20.

  • Genealogy - 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays in June. This class will teach you how to record your family's information and different research techniques to save time in your search. The cost is $60.

  • Photography - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays June 8 through June 29. Don Cooper, retired National Geographic Society photographer, introduces students to the art of black and white photography. Basic 35mm knowledge is required. An SLR or 35mm camera is needed for class. The cost is $50.
