Robert B. Myers, 80

STATE LINE, Pa. - Robert B. Myers, 80, of 384 Hade St. (P.O. Box 444), State Line, Pa., died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 9:46 p.m. at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born April 11, 1926, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Norman C. and Ruth A. (Brewer) Myers.

Mr. Myers retired after 27 years as postmaster of the U.S. Post Office in State Line.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in State Line. He was a life post member of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 and Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, both of Greencastle. He was a 39-year member of the State Line Ruritan Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.


Mr. Myers was a World War II veteran, serving in the 78th Army Air Force Base Unit. Mr. Myers was a 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School.

He and his wife, Betty M. (Miller) Myers, were married for more than 54 years.

Surviving family, in addition to his wife, are one son, Russell E. (husband of Vicki) Myers of Greencastle; one brother, Roy C. Myers of State Line; one grandson, James J. (fianc of Racheal Robertson) Myers of Waynesboro; one granddaughter, Jennifer (wife of Darin) Horst of Chambersburg; one stepgrandson, Tracey Bard of Greencastle; one stepgranddaughter, Denise Banks of Greencastle; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, with the Rev. Edwin Higginbottom officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by Chambersburg VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard, will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Annex Fund of Trinity United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 266, State Line, PA 17263. The Greencastle VFW Post 6319 will hold a memorial service on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Louis F. Atwell, 67

INWOOD, W.Va. - Louis Franklin Atwell, 67, of Inwood, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

Born Feb. 1, 1939, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late John Gibson and Kathleen Pearl Atwell.

He is survived by nine children, Kim, Tammi, Robin, Scott, Pam, Sandy, Mary, Kathlena and Rachel; one brother, Joseph Atwell of Glen Burnie, Md.; one half sister, Beatrice Walker of South Carolina; and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Atwell Jr. and William E. Atwell Sr.

A memorial service will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Pastor Jeff McLeod will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Edith F. Stine, 81

Edith Francis Stine, 81, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at the Blue Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born Jan. 2, 1925, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Cora Pearl Smith King.

Her husband, John L. Stine, preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Joann Winebrenner of Hagerstown; one son, Gerald T. Stine of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Donald R. King of Maugansville and Robert S. King of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard W. Stine; one sister, Alice L. Martin; two brothers, Henry K. King and Alfred L. King; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward J. Wade will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marjorie P. Miller, 79

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Marjorie Pearl Miller, 79, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

She was the daughter of the late Hunter L. and Alice Hite Triggs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Andrew "Bud" Miller.

She was a seamstress and a seasonal employee of Musselman's Apple Plant.

She attended First Baptist Church in Inwood, W.Va.

She is survived by six daughters, Joyce R. Cope of Langhorne, Pa., Marian E. Rudy, Constance E. Lewis, Linda K. Miller and A. Janine Mongan, all of Martinsburg, and Sonya R. Miller of Easton, Pa.; one son, John A. Miller Jr. of Kearneysville, W.Va.; two sisters, Catherine M. Hareford of Martinsburg and Nevada T. Albin of Charles Town, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Estella E. Bryant, Olive Palmer, Beulah A. Butts, Naomi T. McCusker and Mary Ann Grubb; three brothers, Charles L. Triggs, Harlan Triggs and Walter Triggs; and one granddaughter.
