Edward M. Tritapoe, 81

KNOXVILLE, Md. - Edward Maurice Tritapoe, 81, of Knoxville, Md., died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.

Born June 1, 1924, in Washington County, Ed was a son of the late Calvin T. Tritapoe Sr. and Rhoda E. Younkins Tritapoe.

He had retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration in Frederick, Md.

Ed was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Brunswick, Md.

Ed is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice L. Poffenberger Tritapoe; one daughter, Karen E. Harne and husband, Jack, of Keedysville; one son, Arvin W. Tritapoe and wife, Linda, of Hagerstown; two sisters, Eileen Bayles of Frederick and Patricia Mohler of Brunswick; two brothers, James Tritapoe and wife, Audrey, of Brownsville, and William Tritapoe and wife, Jan, of Boonsboro; three grandchildren, Katie Harne, Brian Tritapoe and wife, Christina, and Allen Tritapoe; one great-granddaughter, Brianna Tritapoe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin E. Tritapoe Jr. and Richard W. Tritapoe.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Brownsville Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Daniel M. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro.




Joeann Higdon, 71

KNOXVILLE, Md. - Joeann Higdon, 71, of Knoxville, Md., died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at her residence.

Born Oct. 24, 1934, in Knoxville, she was the daughter of the late George D. Rickerds and Leoda Coblentz Rickerds.

She was a retired switchboard operator with the Washington County School Board.

She was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by two nieces, Beth O. Lowery at home and Sherry L. Purkey of Frederick, Md.; one nephew, R. Shane Lowery and Karen Metz of Knoxville; great-nieces, Dawn M. Conner of Hagerstown, Md., Stacy Lowery and Eddie Eury of Brunswick, Md., and Heather B. Lowery of Knoxville; great-great-nephew, Eli-Jah Bonitto; great-great-nieces, Roxi Conner, Kayla Eury and Ashley Lowery; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Eugene Higdon.

The funeral service will be Friday, May 19, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Brownsville Church of the Brethren in Brownsville, Md. Pastor Dan Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Betty J. Miller, 78

Betty Jane Miller, 78, of 3 Berner Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 25, 1927, in Myersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Lester Leroy Lewis and Leona Mae Smith Souders Lewis.

Her husband, Wayne Hector Miller, died in 1997.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara A. Shank of Hagerstown; five sons, George H. Miller, James W. Miller, Donald L. Miller, Thomas E. Miller and John R. Miller, all of Hagerstown; three sisters, Kathleen Green and Ruth Dagenhart, both of Hagerstown and Hazel Cook of West Virginia; three brothers, James Lewis and Lester Lewis Jr., both of Hagerstown, and Raymond Souders of Wolfsville, Md.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Souders.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home in Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.




Juanita E. Wolfensberger, 82


APRIL 30, 1924-MAY 15, 2006

Juanita Ethel Wolfensberger, 82, of 310 Opal Court, Hagerstown, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 30, 1924, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Molinari and Nellie Mae Morgan Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Wolfensberger, in 2004.

She was employed as a caregiver in homes in the area.

She had been a Girl Scout leader.

She is survived by three daughters, Glenda J. Geris of Fredericksburg, Va., and Ruth K. Hebb and Nellie I. Keck, both of Hagerstown; one son, John A. Wolfensberger of Compton, Calif.; one sister, Romona Pennock of Beckley, W.Va.; one brother, David Molinari of Massanutten, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Paul D. Wolfensberger and Morris D. Hewitt; one brother, Harry Molinari Jr.; and one great-granddaughter.
