Kids Alive Fest

Children's Village of Washington County Inc. will host its 15th annual Kids Alive Fest open house/fundraiser Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Children's Village campus, 1546 Mt. Aetna Road in Hagerstown. Admission is free. The event will be held rain or shine.

Scheduled activities include: Auto Extrication Demo at 11:30 a.m. (by the Maugansville Fire Department); K-9 Demonstration at 12:30 p.m. (by Maryland Correctional Institution); Magic Show at 1:30; Car Seat Safety Check (in the Brethren Mutual Insurance Parking Lot); Child I.D. (sponsored by Gaye McGovern Insurance Agency, State Farm Insurance).

Other activities planned, weather permitting include: a Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter, mini-car rides and a radar gun contest. Other events include family safety stations and kids "Jr. Firefighters Combat Challenge."

There will be continuous tours of the Power of Fire House. Bike raffles, an appearance by Sparky the fire dog, as well as food and fun, will be part of the day's festivities.

Event sponsors for are Sovereign Bank and Susquehanna Bank. Children's Village of Washington County Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing free life-safety education to elementary school children in Washington County.

May 16 - Grades 3 and 4 to Antietam Recreation Center, 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

May 17 - Grade 3 to The Maryland Theatre to see Junie B. Jones, 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.; Volunteer Luncheon, 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

May 18 - Grade 3 music concert will follow a short PTA meeting, 7 p.m.

May 19 - Grade 5 students to Maryland Science Center in Baltimore, 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

House and Garden Tour June 10

The Hagerstown Women's Club invites you to a fabulous House and Garden Tour on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some beautiful homes including Doub's Mill, The Women's Club, Old Forge Farm and Oxbow Bend Farm will be featured for the price of $20 dollars, or $5 for a single home. Lunch will be available at the Women's Club from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a cost of $7. For more details or to purchase a ticket, please call the Women's Club from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 301-739-0870.

The Women's Club has fundraisers to support the upkeep of its historic building, which includes 18 rooms rented to women in our community who need low-cost housing.

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown will be offering a variety of art classes during June, July, August and September. Registration is required for all classes.

The following classes are offered for adults and teenagers:
