Leadership class gets 'Swan' preview

May 15, 2006

Members of the Leadership Hagerstown class of 2006 were treated to a sneak preview of Potomac Classical Youth Ballet Company's (PCYBC) upcoming production of "Swan Lake" on Friday, April 21, at The Maryland Theatre.

The company performed excerpts from the classical ballet, which will be presented Saturday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 11, at 3 p.m. at The Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown.

Members of the Potomac Classical Youth Ballet Company and Company II will be joined by guest artists as they perform the love story of Prince Sigfried and Odette, a princess who is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer and condemned to live her life as a swan.

PCYBC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational and performance opportunities to the area's most talented dancers, ages 13 to 18. PCYBC's Company II was formed in 2004 and serves as the training ground for the full company. Dancers for the full company and Company II are selected annually through an open audition process held in early fall.
