Utility-line work to affect traffic at two city sites

Excavation work to install new utility service lines at two different sites in Hagerstown is expected to begin Monday, weather permitting, according to a press release from the City of Hagerstown's Engineering Department.

- Work on Marshall Street will begin Monday at 7 a.m., weather permitting, according to the release.

Marshall Street will be closed to all traffic between Wyoming and Vermont avenues. Traffic will be detoured around the work zone via Connecticut, Vermont and Indiana avenues, according to the release.

The section of Marshall Street affected by the work is expected to remain closed until Friday, according to the release.

- Work on View Street will begin Monday at 8 a.m., weather permitting, according to the release.

View Street will be closed to all traffic between Columbia and East Irvin avenues, according to the release. Residents living in the block where the work will be done can use View Street as a two-way street, according to the release.

The section of View street affected by the work is expected to remain closed until Monday at 4 p.m., according to the release.

Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through either of the work zones, according to the release.

Motorists approaching the work zones should expect to encounter barricades, traffic control devices and detour signs until the work is completed, according to the release.
