BlueClaws leave Suns feeling crabby

May 14, 2006

Offense is far from automatic for the Hagerstown Suns.

That's because they are working without a clutch.

Hagerstown had 17 chances to drive home runners in scoring position on Saturday. It only succeed once.

It ended up being the Suns' downfall. Lakewood scored two runs in the 11th inning, capped by Avelino Asprilla's RBI double, to grab a 5-3 victory.

The Suns had every chance to tie the game in their half of the 11th, but couldn't get the big hit.

Hector Pellot singled and Jose Castro was hit by a Paul Overholt pitch to open the 11th. After Leivi Ventura laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners, Matt Anderson struck out and Jonathan Sanchez popped to short to end the game.
