For the record

May 14, 2006

Rick Smith, an instructor in the Business IT Department at Hagerstown Business College, has been named a Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow for the 2005-2006 school year by Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE).

Under the direction of Sam Walton Fellows, SIFE students develop projects in their communities that teach entrepreneurship, market economics, business ethics and personal financial success skills, then present their projects at SIFE Regional Competitions and Career Opportunity Fairs held around the country, leading to a national competition and ultimately the SIFE World Cup.

Founded in 1975, SIFE is a non-profit organization that mobilizes university students to create economic opportunities for others while discovering their own potential.

The Fellowship was created in 1990 by the Wal-Mart Foundation and is named for Samuel More Walton, founder and chairman of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
