Washington County Reading Day
More than 35 children's authors will attend, including Jonathan London, author of the serial novel appearing in The Morning Herald and The Daily Mail newspapers every Tuesday and Thursday and the Froggy series; and Chris Crutcher, author of young adult novels. There also will be music, face painting, balloon sculpting and more. Discovery Station will offer free admission on Saturday. Heritage Day
This first event will honor Adam Stephen, founder of Martinsburg, and Belle Boyd, a famous Confederate spy. The Adam Stephen House, Triple Brick Museum and a nearby natural limestone tunnel will be open for guided tours, as well as the Belle Boyd House and its rose and herb gardens. A sneak preview of The Apollo Civic Theatre's "Seussical" will be presented at the Adam Stephen House. Also free trolley rides, living history demonstrations, live music and children's games.
