Washington County Reading Day

More than 35 children's authors will attend, including Jonathan London, author of the serial novel appearing in The Morning Herald and The Daily Mail newspapers every Tuesday and Thursday and the Froggy series; and Chris Crutcher, author of young adult novels. There also will be music, face painting, balloon sculpting and more. Discovery Station will offer free admission on Saturday. Heritage Day

This first event will honor Adam Stephen, founder of Martinsburg, and Belle Boyd, a famous Confederate spy. The Adam Stephen House, Triple Brick Museum and a nearby natural limestone tunnel will be open for guided tours, as well as the Belle Boyd House and its rose and herb gardens. A sneak preview of The Apollo Civic Theatre's "Seussical" will be presented at the Adam Stephen House. Also free trolley rides, living history demonstrations, live music and children's games. 'A Woman in Espionage'

Jonna Mendez, a retired technical operations officer and chief of disguise for the CIA and photographer, will present "A Woman in Espionage." Mendez was an operative in Moscow during the Cold War, successfully eluding the KGB. A book signing will follow the presentation. Saturday, 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Discovery Station, 101 W. Truck and Tractor Pull

The Mountain State Pullers Association will host the first of five truck and tractor pulls this season. Features seven classes, including 8,050-pound hot stock diesel pickups. Truck & Tractor Pull

Hosted by the Olden Pulling Team, the pull will raise money for various organizations, including the Rohrersville Ruritan and Hagerstown Community College's girls softball team. Mother's Day tribute

A Tribute for Mother's Day includes four award-winning opera singers from New York City - Robert Zimmerman, Ross Benoliel, Amy Lynn Grable and Claudia Huckle, will be accompanied by pianist-accompanist Jennifer Peterson for the performance.
