Ruritan holds blood drive

The Maugansville Ruritan Club held its third blood drive of the year on Monday, May 1, in the community center. Fifty-three donors took the time to give blood to help others in need.

Those donors reaching milestones during the event were: Mary Anderson (19 gallons), Elva Martin (12 gals.), Marvin Horst (11 gals.), Bob Walton (4 gals.), Celestine Shannon (2 gals.), James Wolfensberger (2 gals.) and Melissa Kemp (1 gal.).

The Ruritan Club and the Red Cross thank everyone who gave blood. The Ruritan's next blood drive will be held on Monday, June 26, from 2 to 7 p.m.


Kevin's Fund Golf Tournament

The third annual "Kevin's Fund" Golf Tournament will be held this year on Friday, July 7, at Black Rock Golf Course starting at 8:30 a.m.

The event is hosted by the Maugansville Ruritan Club. The club is looking for golfers, hole sponsors and donations for prizes. Call Marty at 301-790-1417 for details, registration forms and questions regarding the tournament.

All proceeds benefit the Kevin Lumm Memorial Fund, administered by the Ruritan Club, which assists children with medical and special needs in Washington County, and the Batten Disease Support and research Association.(BDSRA).

AARP Chapter 623to hold picnic

AARP Chapter 623 is holding its annual picnic on Tuesday, June 13, at the Moose Lodge Family Center on Old National Pike just south of Funkstown at noon (This is the same location the regular meetings are held).

Tickets are $10 each. The deadline to obtain tickets is June 7. Tickets will be available at the regular meeting or by contacting Carrie Powell at 301-824-6120.

Each person is asked to bring a "bingo prize" (approximate $1 value) for the afternoon entertainment.
