National Pike Festival slated for May 19-21

CLEAR SPRING - National Pike Festival activities will get under way Friday, May 19, when the wagon train will be encamped along South Martin Street.

A community dinner of roast beef will be at the American Legion Post from 5 to 8 p.m. The dinner costs $6.

On Saturday, May 20, there will be an Old Tyme Country Breakfast served at the American Legion Post in Clear Spring from 6:30 to 9 a.m.

The wagon train will depart at 9 a.m. A parade through town will begin at 10 a.m. at the school complex and end at Thompson's Towing Co. on the east side of town.

Additional activities will include a chicken barbecue at the Clear Spring Ambulance Company, spring fest at New Life Christian Ministries from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and alumni baseball and softball games.

The wagon train's next stop is at Wilson Store at 10:30 a.m. and then on to Wacohu Grange, where the public can see the animals and wagons from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be a breakfast from 6 to 11 a.m., soup and sandwiches at 11 a.m. and a flea market and bake sale.

From there, the train moves into Hagerstown where it will stop at City Park at 2 p.m. and then on to Ralph Henderson's Ag Center, 510 E. Wilson Blvd., where it will camp overnight.

On Sunday, the wagon train moves east into Boonsboro, where a round of activities are to begin with lunch at the Auction Square complex at 12:30 p.m.
