Schwartz garden dedication is Saturday

May 09, 2006

Farmers, others in agriculture and area residents are invited to the dedication of a memorial garden for the late Don Schwartz on Saturday at the Washington County Agricultural Education enter.

The dedication is to begin at 11 a.m.

The garden is being developed by family and friends in tribute to Schwartz, a longtime University of Maryland agricultural Extension agent who died of cancer in January 2005.

Mary Ellen Waltemire, regional Extension director, said donations made in Schwartz's honor will be used in the next year for a carpenter's building as part of the Rural Heritage Farm at the ag center.

The ag center is about 7 miles south of Hagers-town from the Interstate 70 exit onto Sharpsburg Pike (Md. 65).
