2nd early morning robbery reported in Hagerstown today

May 05, 2006

Hagerstown Police are investigating the second early-morning robbery in as many days where the victim was roughed up, but the description of the assailant in this morning's incident on East Franklin Street differs from the one near City Park on Wednesday.

A 30-year-old resident of the Holiday Motel told police he was walking on East Franklin Street at 2:32 a.m. today when he was approached by a man who asked if he needed anything.

After saying no, the victim told police he then stepped between two buildings at 55-61 E. Franklin St. when the man said he wanted to show him something. Once there, the man grabbed the victim around the neck and said he had a gun. He told the victim to empty his pockets.

The man then fled the area with $109 in currency and other items.

The victim was unhurt.

The robber is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, 240 pounds and between 25 and 30 years old. He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
