Fountain dedication scheduled for today

The City of Hagerstown and Sunrise Rotary will host a dedication of the fountain at University Plaza today at 3:30 p.m. at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown at 32 W. Washington St.

County to hold public hearing on '07 budget

The Washington County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the fiscal year 2007 budget Tuesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. at Kepler Theater on the Hagerstown Community College campus.

The budget period runs from July 1 through June 30, 2007.

The hearing will be broadcast on Antietam Cable Television's Channel 19 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Scholarship auction slated for Friday

The Washington County Homemakers Clubs will hold its Specialty Auction for Educational Scholarships on Friday at Elks Lodge 378 on Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and the event will begin with a silent auction, followed by a live auction by auctioneer Ron Hamner.


Among the items to be auctioned are a lunch with Lou Scally, antiques, specialty household items, tool kits, home decor, plants, furniture pieces, themed gift baskets, handcrafts and quilted items.

A raffle will be held for items, including a trip for two, a Washington County throw, a retired Longaberger basket and a $100 cash prize.

HCC Jazz Ensemble to host free concert

The Hagerstown Community College Jazz Ensemble will host a free concert Sunday at 7 p.m. at Kepler Theater.

The concert will focus on music from the Swing Era.
