Graduates invited to offer input into school's anniversary

A group of South Hagerstown High School alumni planning the school's 50th anniversary is seeking input from representatives of reunion committees and other former graduates.

The group is planning a series of activities and recognitions for the 2006-07 school year, when South High turns 50.

Meetings to plan for the event have been scheduled according to graduation year during the annual May Teacher Appreciation Week. The meetings will be held on two different nights in the school cafeteria.

A meeting for members of the classes of 1957 through 1969 will be Tuesday, May 9, at 7 p.m., with a meeting for members of the classes of 1970 through 1979 to follow at 8:30 p.m.

Members of the classes of 1980 through 1989 will meet Thursday, May 11, at 7 p.m., with a meeting of the classes of 1990 through 2005 to follow at 8:30 p.m.

Tours of the school will start 30 minutes before the meetings. Anniversary T-shirts also will be on sale.
