It takes hits to win.

The Delmarva Shorebirds got them. The Hagerstown Suns didn't.

The Shorebirds won.

Delmarva banged out 16 hits while the Suns were held to four singles as the Shorebirds handed a 7-0 drubbing to Hagerstown on Saturday.

Delmarva pitcher Brandon Erbe (1-1) allowed one hit over five innings and combined with reliever Josh Potter to strike out 12 Suns as Hagerstown stayed off the scoreboard.

The Shorebirds roughed up Hagerstown starter Jeff Landing (0-4) for six runs on 11 hits over 4 1/3 innings to take early control.

Delmarva jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second on RBI singles by Ryan Finan and Quincy Ascencion and Kyle Dahlberg's RBI double. The Shorebirds made it 4-0 in the third on Mark Fleisher's single.

Delmarva chased Landing in the fifth with Brandon Snyder's RBI single. Dahlberg homered in the eighth off Jim Wladyka to close the scoring.

The bottom half of Hagerstown's batting order went 0-for-16 for the game.
