Three injured in crash on U.S. 340

CHARLES TOWN, W.VA.

Three people were hospitalized Friday night after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Country Club Road and U.S. 340, according to Independent Fire and Ambulance Co. Chief Ed Smith.

A pickup truck collided with passenger car just before 9 p.m.injuring three people inside the car, said Citizens Fire Co. Chief Steve Anderson.

A woman driving the pickup truck refused treatment at the scene.

Anderson and Smith said they were unsure how the wreck occurred.

A man in the passenger car was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, Smith said.

Two women, also in the car, were flown by helicopter to Inova Fairfax (Va.) Hospital, he said.

One of the women was trapped in the vehicle and firefighters had to cut the vehicle open to rescue her, Anderson said.
