Tri-State Halos win Spikefest

The Tri-State Fellowship of Christian Athletes' 15-Under Halos posted a 13-1 record en route to winning the championship at the April Spikefest at Shippensburg University.

The Halos defeated NVVA Loudoun (25-20, 25-23) in the finals. They finished pool play with an 8-1 record before defeating Lehigh Volley Force (25-19, 25-9) in the semifinals.

The Halos, coached by Diana Serafini and Katie Spoonire, were led by Rebecca Morgan (Grace Academy) with kills and four aces

Other top scorers were:

Amanda Jenkins (Clear Spring) eight kills.

Tara Garver (Boonsboro) three kills and three aces

Lacee Hershberger (Williamsport) four kills and two blocks.

Hannah Youngs (Broadfording Christian) three kills and two blocks.

Eagles place third

The 17-Under Eagles finished third at the Shippensburg Spikefest, losing in the semifinals.


The Eagles lost to Norlanco White (25-22, 13-25, 15-8) in the semifinals. They went 8-0 in pool play, defeating WSY Cyclones (25-20, 25-14), Xtreme Vipers (25-14, 25-11), Queens Ct. Diamonds (25-16, 25-18) and Philadelphia Starlings (25-20, 25-19).

The Eagles were led by Lauren Black (Thomas Johnson) with 27 points, 23 kills, three aces and 14 digs.

Other top scorers were:

Kristen Serafini, Grace: 25 points, 18 kills, seven aces, eight digs and seven assists.

Kayla Wagner, Hedgesville: 20 points, 12 kills, five aces, five digs and three blocks.

Katie Gantz, Boonsboro: 17 points, 13 kills, three aces, three digs.

Megan Cox, Grace: 16 points, 12 kills, four aces, 14 digs.

Stephanie Brooks, Musselman: 12 points, three kills, nine aces, 11 digs and 60 assists.

Chrissy Sheehan, Hedgesville: six points and four kills.

Catie Wampole, Middletown: 20 digs.

Trinity finishes 5-6

The 15-Under Trinity finished 5-6 after losing the quarterfinal play-in match at the Yorktowne 15's Invitational in Red Lion, Pa.

The Trinity lost the Sparks (25-21) in the play-in. The lost to Buxmont (25-11, 25-22, 25-22), and defeated X-Court (25-27, 25-15, 25-22) and L.A. South (25-11, 19-25, 25-16, 25-19).

Megan Graff (North Hagerstown) led Trinity with 24 points, 11 kills, 13 aces and 15 assists

Other top scorers were:

Samantha Wilson, Musselman: 20 points, 16 kills, 4 aces.

Lauren Cox, Grace: 17 points, 11 kills, six aces and 9 assists

Brittany Smetzer, Clear Spring: 15 points, five kills, 10 aces

Whitney Schroyer, North Hagerstown: 14 points, five kills, nine aces and 27 assists.
