Hub City Stingers win title

The Hub City Volleyball Club 18 Stingers defeated Highlands 18 of Berlin, Pa., 2-1 to win the WSY March Spikefest Tournament at Shippensburg University.

The Stingers were led by Jessica Ambrose (Boonsboro) with 110 assists, 29 service points, five aces, 39 digs, and 13 kills.

Other statistical leaders for the Stingers were:

Emily McCoy, Berkeley Springs: 26 blocks, 29 service points, five aces, and 21 kills

Caitlyn Selby, Boonsboro: 23 kills, 18 service points, 26 digs and five blocks.

Sammi Snodderly, Williamsport: 21 kills, 26 service points, six aces, 30 digs and four blocks.

Kierra Nelson, North Hagerstown: 14 kills, 14 blocks and seven service points.

Cari Cline, Chambersburg: 28 service points, 13 kills, 24 digs, and six blocks.

Kasi Harris, Boonsboro: with 15 service points, five aces, eight kills and seven blocks.

Kelly Toms, North Hagerstown: five kills, four service points and six digs.


Kim Snavely, Boonsboro: 60 digs.

The Stingers went 8-0 in pool play defeating WSY Tsunami from Harrisburg, Pa. (25-23, 25-17), South Jersey Patriots from Melrose Park, Pa. (25-12, 25-16), Mystique VBC 18-1 from Norristown, Pa. (25-13, 25-14) and Court Authority Volleyball Academy Cosmic 18 of Orefield, Pa.(25-23, 25-21).

The Stingers faced Court Authority Volleyball Academy Cosmic 18 again in the semifinals and swept 25-9, 25-16 to advance to the championship match.
