Boundary expansion plans outlined

April 25, 2006|by DAVE McMILLION

Charles Town's proposed new comprehensive plan would take in a number of new areas under a growth boundary expansion and set up several different types of land uses in those areas.

Among them are:

  • An approximate 1,400 acre area adjacent to the Huntfield development south of town that would be used for light industrial uses, said Larry Johnson of View Engineering, which drafted the proposal.

  • About 534 acres between Keyes Ferry Road and Cattail Road east of the city would be used for business space and technology businesses, Johnson said.

  • About 924 acres near Marlowe Road east of town would be set aside for entertainment uses like movie theaters, Johnson said. The area is designed to blend with entertainment attractions at Charles Town Races & Slots, Johnson said.
