April 21, 2006

A Cascade man pleaded guilty Thursday to distributing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Baltimore said.

Jeffrey L. Gilchrest, 44, could be ordered to serve five to 20 years in prison, plus pay a $250,000 fine, when he is sentenced June 29, the office said in a news release.

According to the release, Gilchrest uploaded 23 files from his home computer to a Yahoo! special interest group on Jan. 24, 2004. The files depicted a prepubescent girl "in various poses and stages of undress," according to the release.

The images were posted on the group's Web site and e-mailed to the group, according to the release.

In addition, on Sept. 22, 2004, for another special interest group, Gilchrest uploaded 10 files showing children under 12 years old in "sexually explicit conduct," according to the release.
