Early dismissal

Parents of Washington County students, be sure to note the following date on your calendar: Schools will be closing two-and-one-half hours early on Friday. This marks the end of the marking period for secondary students.

Dance planned

Dance the afternoon away on Sunday, April 23 ... a ballroom dance will be hosted at the Masonic Temple at 54 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Downtown Sounds will be performing. Admission is $9 per person. For more information about this dance event, please contact events planner Ken Welch at 301-733-9156.

Mall to host crafts show

Craft item collectors, be sure to head out to Valley Mall beginning Wednesday, May 3. Many local arts and crafts vendors will be set up throughout the mall through Sunday, May 7.

Craft and garden show set for May 6

A spring craft, flower, garden and gift show will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the new Grand Venice Hotel Grand Ballroom and parking lot at 431 Dual Highway from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The show will feature more than 50 vendors of handcrafted items, including flowers, hanging baskets, flower pot arrangements, jewelry, primitive items, pottery, purses and much more, just in time for Mother's Day!

Admission is free. Donations will be accepted for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life program as well as a huge arrangement will be raffled to benefit Relay for Life.

Law enforcement officers to be at mall

Visit with our local law enforcement officers on Saturday, May 13. The Washington County Sheriff's Office will host a demonstration at Valley Mall. Officers will be on hand to discuss and demonstrate the functions and duties of our local law enforcement agency from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
