Waynesboro School Board members resigns

April 20, 2006|by JENNIFER FITCH

WAYNESBORO, PA. - The Waynesboro Area School Board is accepting applications for a vacancy on the board following the resignation of Board Member Megan Shea effective Wednesday.

Applicants must live in Washington Township, Pa., and be at least 18 years old, Board President Larry Glenn said.

When Shea, now 22, joined the school board in 2003, she was the youngest school board member in Pennsylvania, Glenn said.

"She still is the youngest in the state," he said.

Glenn said Shea resigned because she is getting married and moving.

"We have to appoint somebody within 30 days of today," Glenn said Wednesday. "There will be an interview process."

He said applicants should send a letter to the district office at 210 Clayton Ave., Waynesboro, PA 17268. The letter should be addressed to Glenn.

A year and a half remains on Shea's term, Glenn said.
