Computer CPR Clinic set for Saturday

If you've ever felt helpless because of computer problems, visit Hagerstown Community College's Computer CPR Clinic on Saturday, April 22.

Students from HCC's Information Technology Association will provide consulting and repair services for home computer headaches.

For a small donation, you can bring in your computer to the clinic between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a variety of services. Student technicians will help diagnose problems on PCs related to hardware, provide advice on upgrading computers with new hardware and scan computers for problematic issues such as viruses, adware or spyware.

Hypnosis, meditation workshop offered

The Center for Continuing Education at Hagerstown Community College will offer a workshop on the use of hypnosis and meditation for better sleep on Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center.


The course will address what prevents people from sleeping, four mechanisms of hypnosis, self-hypnosis techniques, the conscious and subconscious mind, levels of hypnosis and how to make a tape for repeated use.

Scripts for hypnotic induction, relaxation, parts regression and achieving sleep will be provided.

The cost of the course is $35, with a $15 materials fee and $5 registration fee.

Health Sciences Day is May 6 at HCC

Hagerstown Community College will host a free Health Sciences Day Saturday, May 6, at 9 a.m. at Kepler Theater.

Information will be available on programs of study including nursing (RN), practical nursing, medical assistant, phlebotomy, medical office administration, medical transcription, medical coding, certified nursing/geriatric assistant, paramedic radiography. Attendees can talk with HCC instructors and students, take a campus tour and obtain general information about the college.

Gardening workshop offered

The Center for Continuing Education at Hagerstown Community College will offer an "Effortless Gardening" workshop Saturday, April 29, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the garden at the Synergy Healing Arts Center in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.

Participants will learn how to perform basic gardening tasks using proper body mechanics to increase flexibility and avoid strain and pain. The course will be taught by Robert Hunter, a certified Feldenkrais instructor.
