Probable cause found in couple's burglary case

HAGERSTOWN - Probable cause was found Tuesday in Washington County District Court to proceed with charges against a Frederick County, Md., couple accused of burglarizing homes in Washington County.

Donald Leroy Stone, 42, whose address was listed as the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, was charged with four counts each of first-degree and fourth-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit both, theft, conspiracy to commit theft, malicious destruction of property and conspiracy to commit malicious destruction of property, court documents state.

His wife, Joanne Elizabeth Stone, 40, of 8929 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Md., was charged with the same crimes, documents state.

Probable cause was found Tuesday to proceed with all charges against them.

The couple is accused of robbing homes in Boonsboro, Keedysville and Fairplay in January and February. DVDs, CDs, coins, jewelry and electronics were taken, documents state.

They were linked to four burglaries in Washington County and in 11 other locations, documents state.
