Holy Week services in the Tri-State area

Western Maryland Hospital Center, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, the Rev. David Baker, director of pastoral care, will lead Good Friday services at 2 p.m.

His sermon topic is Remembering the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Clear Spring community, Good Friday activities will begin with a cross walk at 9:15 a.m. at New Life Church, just east of Clear Spring.

At noon. a Good Friday service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church followed by a luncheon.

Then at 7 p.m., the Passion of the Christ will be shared at New Life.

Waynesboro (Pa.) Area YMCA, the 49th annual Good Friday service will begin at 7:30 a.m. A breakfast will follow.

The Rev. John Mullen will bring this year's devotional message entitled The Victory of the Cross? William and Valorie Dick will provide special music.

St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown, Holy Week services begin tonight at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Rickards preaching.


On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the Rev. Scott Bellows will officiate.

The Rev. Richard Landis will conduct the Maundy Thursday communion and foot washing service at 7:30 p.m. A prayer vigil begins at 9 p.m. and continues to midnight.

Good Friday, Bellows will be preacher at the noon communion service and the 7:30 p.m. liturgy.

Holy Saturday starts at 9 a.m. with the holy liturgy. At 7 p.m., the Rev. Robert Ihloff, bishop of Maryland, will preside at the Great Vigil communion service.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, a communion service Wednesday at 7 p.m. will feature the stripping of the altar.

Table communion on Maundy Thursday is by reservation at 6:30 p.m.

The Good Friday service of Tenebrae is at 7 p.m.

Asbury United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va., Holy Week services will begin Wednesday at 7 p.m. with The Messiah: Prophecy Fulfilled.

On Maundy Thursday, a seder meal will be served at 7 p.m. Good Friday services get under way at 7 p.m.

Saint Augustine Catholic Church, Williamsport, Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the adoration at 10 p.m.

On Good Friday, the Lord's Passion and communion service will start at 7 p.m.

Holy Saturday's blessing of food is at 1 p.m. and Easter Vigil is at 7:30 p.m.

Saint James Catholic Church, Boonsboro, Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper will begin at 7 p.m.

On Good Friday, the stations of the cross will be at 2:30 p.m. The Lord's Passion and communion Service begins at 7 p.m.

There will be no Easter vigil on Holy Saturday.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, Holy Thursday services featuring communion and foot washing will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Pastor Mark Mooney's topic is Lord, It's Hard to be Humble.

SACA, the Good Friday processional sponsored by the Smithsburg Area Churches Association will begin at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's, making seven stops along the way to mark the Seven Last Words of Christ from the Cross. The walk will end at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Christ Reformed UCC in Cavetown, Maundy Thursday services begin at 6:30 p.m.

Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg, W.Va., the message at the Maundy Thursday communion service at 7 p.m. is Christ With Us, Christ Given for Us.

On Good Friday, the annual cross walk will begin at Trinity United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., ending at noon at Trinity Episcopal Church for worship.

On Holy Saturday, there will be a children's Easter party at 1 p.m.

Mountaingate Family Restaurant, Thurmont, Md., By Faith will be in concert April 14 at 6:30 p.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, on Holy Thursday, there will be a Mass at 7:30 p.m. only. The church will remain open for prayer until 10:30 p.m.

Confessions will be heard Holy Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and from 4:30 to 5 p.m.; and on Good Friday and Holy Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

St. Michael Catholic Church, Clear Spring, a solemn liturgy at 3 p.m. on Good Friday will commemorate Jesus' sufferings and death.

Zion United Church of Christ, a communion and Tenebrae service will be held on Maundy Thursday starting at 7:30 p.m.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated on Maundy Thursday at 7:30 p.m. with a special presentation of Stabat Mater by the choir.

On Good Friday, services with hymns and other music will be at noon and 7:30 p.m.

A service for children and feet washing will begin at 6 p.m. and includes a soup and bread supper.

Pikeside United Methodist Church, Paynes Ford Road and U.S. 11, Martinsburg, W.Va., the Rev. Thomas Young Jr. will bring the message, Lift High the Tree, tonight at 7.

Holy week services will continue through Good Friday at 7 nightly with Young speaking.

Bible study is Wednesday at 10 a.m. An Easter egg hunt for the children will begin at 1 p.m. on Holy Saturday.

Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Sharpsburg, Pastor Delancey Catlett will host the community Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m.

Children's Sunday school begins at 10 a.m.
