Girl meets boy with a frightening secret

April 11, 2006|by SARAH BROWN

"Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer Is quite possibly one of the best books I have ever read. The author's use of detail and suspense make for a shocking, action-packed novel that I could not put down.

In the book, Bella, the main character and narrator, has recently moved to dreary Forks, Wash., from sunny, pleasant Phoenix, Ariz. When she meets dark, alluring Edward Cullen, she cannot stop thinking about him, and eventually finds out he feels the same way about her. After finding out Edward's horrific secret, Bella must choose between what she longs for and what is best for her - love or life.

This vampire love story makes for a fantastically enthralling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Scenes and characters from "Twilight" are still fresh in my mind. The author's writing and the tension she creates left me thirsting for more.

Although the book is technically considered fantasy, the characters are very realistic and "normal." I am not a big fantasy fan, and absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend picking up a copy.
