FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick woman died in a crash Monday afternoon after she lost control of her vehicle on U.S. 40 at Brethren Church Road, Maryland State Police said.

Caitlin Rohrer, 22, of Frederick, was driving east on U.S. 40 about 1 p.m. when she crossed the center line and sideswiped another vehicle in the westbound lane, police said. Rohrer then crashed into another vehicle.

Police did not know Monday night what caused Rohrer to cross the center line.

Rohrer was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said Rohrer was alone in the vehicle. Drugs were also found in her vehicle after the crash, police said.

The drugs were sent to a lab, where they will be tested. Police said Monday night they were uncertain what kind of drugs were in Rohrer's vehicle. It was not prescription medication, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle Rohrer struck, John Charles Hoover of Myersville, Md., was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A nursing supervisor there said Monday night that he had been treated and released.

The second vehicle struck by Rohrer had a driver and a passenger. Neither were injured, police said.
