Open house slated at Heritage Academy



Heritage Academy will host an open house Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Prospective students and their parents will be able to visit classrooms, talk with teachers and learn about the school.

Heritage Academy, at 12215 Walnut Point in Hagerstown, opened its doors in 1969.

McDonald's program awards scholarships



Seven Tri-State-area high school seniors were among 57 students recently awarded scholarships from the McDonald's Celebrating Diversity Scholars program.

Local students to receive the scholarships are:

  • Heather Carbaugh, South Hagerstown High School

  • Anna Lenhart, North Hagerstown High School

  • Alicia McClanathan, North Hagerstown High School

  • Kendal Moss, Williamsport High School

  • Tiffanee Argo, Martinsburg (W.Va.) High School

  • Ashley Logsdon, Hedgesville (W.Va.) High School

  • Christopher Parks, Martinsburg High School





Jefferson students pass MS, Excel certification exams



SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Students at Jefferson High School recently took certification examinations in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Passing their certification exam at the CORE level in MS Word were Ashley Gulling, Evelin Pardave, Brittany Thompson, Makeisha Washington and Brandon Wilt.

Passing their certification exam in MS Excel at the CORE level were Chris Blazer, Michael Burrows, Patrick Corley, Andrew Fisher, Robert Gillette, Adrianne McCollum, Robert McDonough, Evelin Pardave, Chris Seal, Jason Stewart and Brittany Thompson.

Jonathan Giroux passed the EXPERT level exam for both MS Word and Excel.
