HMS Technologies Inc. and the Hagerstown Suns

HMS Technologies, Inc., a leader in advanced IT systems integration, has teamed with the Hagerstown Suns to provide area high school students whose parents currently serve overseas in the armed forces the opportunity to apply for the "Son or Daughter of a Serviceman Overseas Scholarship Fund."

Applicants for the scholarship must attend a public or private high school in Washington County, or Berkeley or Jefferson counties in West Virginia, have at least a 3.0 grade-point average and have a parent who has served overseas in any branch of the United States Armed Forces or Active Reserves.

Eligible students must submit a three-page essay along with SAT scores, transcript of grades and three nonfamily member recommendations.

As part of the Suns' "Serviceman Overseas" promotion, HMS Technologies Inc. will donate $5 into the fund for each run the Suns score during the 2006 season.

Last season, the Suns scored 692 runs. If the team were to match that number in 2006, HMS Technologies Inc. would contribute $3,460 toward the fund.
